Position Description: |
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking to fill faculty positions at the rank of Visiting Instructor.This position allows for clinical practice while pursuing additional training in these tracks of study: Medical Education, Emergency Ultrasound, Research, and Social Medicine. Upon successful completion of this appointment, the Visiting Instructor in Emergency Medicine will earn a certification of completion of training and will have had the opportunity to earn a Master's degree.
The Visiting Instructor will work in the capacity of a junior faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED). They will have full attending responsibilities and for the purposes of billing and compliance, shall bill as faculty members. Clinical service in the ED, completion of at least one academic or research project, active participation in teaching Emergency Medicine residents and medical students, and track-specific curriculum are minimum responsibilities of the Visiting Instructor position during the specified term of appointment. Education Requirement: |
- Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or equivalent).
- Position requires completion and an ACGME-accredited training program.

Required Qualifications: |
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be eligible for or have an Iowa Medical license.
- Demonstrated experience providing patient focused care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills and a strong commitment to academic medicine.

Certifications: |
- Applicants must be graduates of ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency programs or Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowships andbe board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Board of Pediatrics.

Desirable Qualifications: |
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates with recent Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Medicine experience.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives
