Builders FirstSource (BFS) is embarking on a multi-year business transformation that will enable us to outperform our competition and enable industry transformation. In connection with this initiative, BFS will harmonize our core operations on SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud. To support this transformation, We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Release Manager to join our dynamic team who has experience with SAP release management and will work closely with Appdev, Integration, Security and BASIS teams.

ROLE SPECIFIC - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Release Management: Oversee the end-to-end release management process, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating SAP releases. Ensure that all releases are executed smoothly and align with business objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with SAP releases, such as transport failures, system downtime, and regression issues. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact on business operations.
  • Deployment Planning: Coordinate detailed deployment plans across project and MSP teams and ensure all deployment activities are well-coordinated and communicated.
  • Cutover Execution: Lead the cutover process during deployment, ensuring all tasks are executed as planned and any issues are promptly addressed. Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure a smooth transition to production.
  • Post-Deployment Support: Provide post-deployment support to address any issues that arise after the release. Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of the deployment status and any post-deployment activities.
  • Release Governance: Establish and enforce governance processes for release management, including approval workflows, change control, and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of release processes, transport management activities. Generate regular reports on release status, and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Application Development (AppDev), Integration, Security, and BASIS teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of SAP solutions.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to, supervising assigned team members (in-person and remote), talent selection and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance management, including conducting performance reviews, recognizing team members, addressing and resolving concerns timely, and escalating for help when necessary.

As a technical Manager - SAP, your supervisory responsibilities will involve clear and effective communication with stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, and technical teams, to provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns promptly. In your role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of SAP releases, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. You will work closely with the technology teams, including Application Development, Integration, Security, and BASIS, to ensure seamless integration and deployment.

Your leadership will be key in driving successful SAP releases and supporting the overall business transformation initiative. You will manage the transport of software deliverables using SAP Cloud Transport Management Service (CTMS), ensuring smooth transitions between development (DEV), quality assurance (QA), and production (PRD) environments. Utilizing SAP Solution Manager ChaRM, you will handle change requests (CRs), ensuring proper documentation, workflow-based approvals, and audit-proof documentation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience in managing large SAP programs in the technology area.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Proven experience in SAP Release Management, with a strong understanding of SAP Basis/Application dev life cycles
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA SDLC methodologies, SAP ChaRM, and CTMS. Familiarity with integration, security, and BASIS processes.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical challenges.

In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law. Eligibility and the amount of the bonus varies based on overall company success, thresholds met and other terms and conditions of the Company's active bonus policy for the respective year.
