This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain branded products. Weil-McLainis a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881.

Starting Pay: $19.50 (with scheduled increases every 6 months ranging from $0.80-$1.10)

Shift: 3RD Shift M-F 1a-9:30a

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Material Handling & Preparation
  • Load and unload trucks with necessary materials.
  • Break scrap materials into usable sizes for remelting.
  • Weigh and add alloys to ensure proper composition.
  • Operate pre-heater burner systems and monitor control alarms.
  1. Furnace Operations & Metal Processing
  • Transfer charge buckets and empty them into furnaces.
  • Perform slagging operations and transfer melt materials.
  • Open and close furnace lids while monitoring furnace performance.
  • Dispatch hot metal carriers and pour the correct amount of iron into ladles.
  • Transfer iron to holding furnaces and take iron temperature samples.
  1. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
  • Operate and maintain charge make-up cranes, furnace cranes, pre-heat equipment, and hot metal carrier systems.
  • Monitor controls for alarms and perform basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and report malfunctions to supervisors.
  1. Refractory Repairs & Ladle Preparation
  • Repair furnace spouts, lids, slag lines, and holding furnace components.
  • Rebuild and maintain ladles as required.
  • Prepare A-Line ladles for pouring, including checking temperature and adding chill if necessary.
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure compliance with operational guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform various related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to compute calculations for materials
  • Ability to work in demanding manufacturing environment
  • Previous manufacturing and melting experience (Preferred)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift 50-75lbs
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods, as required by the job.
  • Requires the use of appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) due to potential hazards associated with machinery or chemicals.
