Job Description: Position Summary This non-union position is with Veit owned company, VONCO. It focuses on operating heavy equipment while also assisting with general labor tasks at our VONCO Landfill in Becker, MN. This is a year-round position, with set-regular hours, and is mainly M-F. The ideal candidate is an experienced equipment operator who is also willing to perform hands-on labor when needed. Primary responsibilities include operating landfill equipment, performing routine maintenance, screening waste, directing landfill traffic, and assisting with recycling processes. Additional duties may include facility upkeep, snow removal, and other landfill operations support. A Day in the Life
Primarily operates landfill equipment such as dozers, compactors, water trucks, skid steers, and backhoes to support daily landfill operations. Performs routine maintenance on landfill equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Screens incoming waste for unacceptable materials and valuable recyclables before processing. Directs landfill traffic to ensure safe and efficient disposal of waste. Assists in operating and maintaining waste processing equipment, including balers for cardboard, plastic, and aluminum. Performs labor tasks as needed, such as clearing windblown debris, maintaining facility grounds, and assisting with lawn care and snow removal. Provides backup assistance for the weigh scale operation and customer transactions. Works closely with the Landfill Manager to support overall site operations. Adheres to all company and OSHA safety protocols and promptly reports any safety concerns. Completes daily procedures and training requirements. Other duties as assigned to support landfill operations.
What You'll Need
Six to twelve months of construction or related experience. Basic knowledgeand ability to work withequipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work. Ability to view and abide by safety training video.Ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines. Willingness and ability to perform manual work. Demonstrated knowledge of safety precautions and procedures. Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. Must have good interpersonal skills. Basic mathematic skills. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements. High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required. OSHA 10 is preferred but not required. First Aid/CPR is preferred but not required. Type III Landfill Certification is preferred but not required.
