Job Function Summary: This position will have responsibility for both direct and indirect categories. The strategic sourcing specialist is a key member of the materials management team and will be crucial in identifying, evaluating, and obtaining products and services from suppliers to meet the needs of the organization. This position requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to form strong supplier relationships to optimize cost and ensure on time delivery.

Job Functions:
- Primary supply chain liaison with R&D, Engineering and Marketing regarding the sourcing of strategic products, assemblies, components and services.
- Actively support New Product Development, Marketing and Manufacturing strategy.
- Drive purchasing savings initiatives and demonstrate sound and logical sourcing principles to maximize results.
- Company representative on Global Commodity Management Core Team.
- Mentor, train and assist other Strategic Sourcing Specialists in the department.
- Subject matter expert for GPIA, Purchase Value Improvement (PVI) model.
- Develop and maintain reliable and cost competitive sources of supply.
- Keep continuously informed of worldwide commodity and supply markets relative to material availability, pricing and technology.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that support Atrium's business model.
- Lead the effort to identify and select strategic suppliers of materials and services.
- Development and maintain successful business relationships with keys suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership standards are met.
- Conduct strategic business reviews with key suppliers a minimum of twice per year.
- Drive decisions regarding vendor and material selection having significant impact on product introduction, timeliness, and profitability.
- Conduct supplier visits and audits; coordinate activities with supplier quality engineering group.
- Negotiate supply agreements with strategic suppliers incorporating total cost and Operations strategies (Lean, Kanban, VMI).
- Perform make vs. buy analysis on appropriate items.
- Manage and monitor inventory levels consistent with inventory management guidelines set forth by the corporation.
- Mitigate risks to Atrium's Supply Chain by understanding developments and changes at suppliers and changes in technology that may cause supply disruption.
- Assist in the training and development of other department personnel as required.
- Assist the department manager in developing policies and procedures and overall implementation of department goals and objectives.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, strategic sourcing and negotiating supply agreements are required; must have prior experience in supplier selection and approval.
- ISM and/or APICS certification preferred. Excellent skills with MS Office applications (Word/Excel) are required. Oracle or SAP ERP/MRP systems a must.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of eight years purchasing experience in a senior supply chain role.
- Experience with medical device, indirect sourcing strategies, and data analysis and reporting.
Environmental/Safety/Physical Work Conditions:
- Ensures environmental consciousness and safe practices are exhibited in decisions.
- Duties are performed in an office environment.
