Job Title : Packer (Summer Job )

Report To: Shift Supervisor

Summary

Performs a rotation of assigned duties on the Finish Line Packaging End (Boxer, Board Stacker, Carton Sealing, Carton Folding) for the purpose of packaging finished product into the product cartons; utilizing approved packing specifications for the number of layers and placing all substandard products in the discard container. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Receives job assignments from manager and lead person, who provide guidelines and priorities for work.

* Performs packaging of finished material according to specified patterns and mix.

* Performs a visual inspection of the product being packaged; placing substandard materials in the discard container.

* Places planks on conveyor or stacks planks onto skids for re-work or re-boxing according to specifications.

* Clearing any jams to assure flow of material to Carton Sealers.

* Recognizes changing needs in the area and responds accordingly.

* Makes up boxes as required.

* Bending and lifting of ~50 pounds or more throughout the shift.

* Wears protective safety gear as required (i.e. gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs).

* Performs all duties established to safety procedures and guidelines using assigned safety equipment.

* Will be required to perform as an individual and as part of a team.

* Overtime is/may be required.

* Other duties as assigned.

General Tasks required of all associates

* Must understand and follow 5S and good housekeeping in their respective areas

* Must adhere to all safety policies within Mannington, The Rigid Plant and specific to job being performed

* Must clean their equipment throughout the shift and at shutdowns

Language Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
