DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Officer 3, you will serve as a Lieutenant and supervise subordinate officers by planning, organizing, assigning, and monitoring correctional officer duties. Your role will include conducting inspections of all areas in assigned zones, ensuring all officers are alert and diligent in the performance of their duties, and completing daily inspection reports. You will provide training to new staff and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and objectives of the institution for subordinates. You can expect to oversee daily schedules, as well as plan and organize inmate movements to and from work assignments, recreational activities, and meal periods. Additionally, you will conduct daily tours of inmate housing units, address any concerns, and participate in counseling inmates on problems associated with institutional adjustment matters of a personal nature. - Full-time employment
- You will work a 40-hour week with rotating days off.
- This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
