DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role encompasses a variety of essential duties and responsibilities that are critical to ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. One of the primary tasks involves evaluating the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as assessing the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet established safety criteria. This includes administering a range of vision tests, such as telebinocular and color perception assessments, to determine applicants' visual capabilities. Additionally, the position requires the administration of both non-commercial and commercial driver license knowledge examinations, which are designed to verify that individuals possess a thorough understanding of the Vehicle Code and relevant traffic signs. The role also entails conducting pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for non-commercial licenses, adhering strictly to departmental standards. This includes scrutinizing applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraudulent activity, as well as evaluating vehicle characteristics to ensure the appropriate tests are conducted. Furthermore, the position involves a meticulous examination of various documents-such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, and immigration-related documents-to verify their authenticity. Accessing multiple systems and databases is crucial for authenticating identity documents, establishing an individual's identity and eligibility for a driver's license or identification card, and identifying potential fraud to prevent identity theft. Finally, the role includes processing test results and applications, issuing driver licenses and identification cards to qualified applicants, and providing essential information and services related to renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, and motorcycle endorsements. - Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may require overtime and travel.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
