Engineering Technician

In this role, you will engage in both practical and classroom training aimed at cultivating the necessary skills and expertise within the traffic sector. You will support team members in conducting various traffic studies, which encompass tasks such as measuring sight distances, analyzing speed limits, assessing truck restrictions, identifying hazardous walking routes, and determining the need for multi-way stop signs. Additionally, you will be responsible for entering, modifying, and updating traffic volume data, legal speed limits, and other relevant traffic information within the Department's computer system, specifically related to the Traffic Studies Section's duties. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the collection and analysis of data, as well as preparing diagrams for both manual and automatic traffic recorder (ATR) counts, which involves data entry and interpretation. You will participate in follow-up studies for different projects and collaborate with your supervisor to organize and schedule traffic data collection efforts, which may involve multiple team members and various locations simultaneously. Furthermore, you will aid in gathering speed limit data, including radar speed measurements, as part of comprehensive speed studies, and extract traffic count information from the Central Office mainframe computer.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
