Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Position Summary
Reporting to the Dean of the SOE, the Director of Professional Education Policy and Accountability oversees procedural and regulatory aspects of SOE and UNCG educator preparation programs to ensure such programs are (a) at the forefront of and in compliance with state and federal requirements for educator preparation; (b) at the forefront of and in compliance with state and federal assessment and accreditation requirements for educator preparation; and updated on state and federal policy and legislation pertaining to educator preparation. In addition, this position serves as a liaison to UNC General Administration and NCDPI on issues related to educator preparation and the improvement of clinical practice and leads strategic initiatives and associated district partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines in the SOE or a related field.
  • Demonstrated record of working in K-12 schools or related education environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with educator preparation programs within university settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with educational assessment and accreditation
  • A commitment to social justice and serving diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated systems thinker and problem solver with excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful experience in an academic administrative position.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating educator preparation programs in a four-year institution of higher education.
  • Experience leading accreditation processes for educator preparation programs.
  • Experience leading partnership programs between school districts and universities.
  • Experience securing grant funding supporting education programs.
  • Experience managing grant-funded programs and associated budgets.
  • Experience teaching at the university level.
