JOB OVERVIEW:

As an SFA in the North America Supply Chain Accounting team, you will work with the Global Accounting Organization (GAO) and the Sourcing Functions and Finance organizations to maintain accurate external financial statements in compliance with US GAAP requirements. Additionally, this role provides accounting and technical guidance to the GMI Global Sourcing Organization, evaluates business finance transactions against changing accounting and regulatory rules, and supports our supply chain financial reporting processes.

This role is uniquely positioned to gain perspective on the processes and decisions supporting General Mills' complex supply chain and resulting market presence. Enablers for success in this role include the ability to work proactively, research complex transactions and determine appropriate accounting, have a high attention to detail, ability to partner with multiple functions, and a commitment to process and process improvement. You will be part of the GAO within the North America Controller's Group.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate daily with Sourcing Buyers and Grain Merchandisers on commodity positions, questions, and projects.
  • Subject matter expert for Sourcing hedging and commodity questions.
  • Oversee daily processing of hedge activity, resolving issues and ensuring seamless operations within our Finance Shared Services organization. Be a leader and a resource for questions and issues as they arise.
  • Provide accounting support for our Commodity Trading and Risk-Management Software (ION / TriplePoint), optimizing its use and ensuring data integrity. Partner across North American operating units and Global Sourcing
  • Organizations, influencing processes and driving improvements that enhance financial accuracy and operational excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with various GMI functions to streamline processes, build strong relationships, and communicate effectively with leadership to ensure accuracy of financial statements. Develop and implement accounting capabilities across the sourcing organization and North American operating units, balancing GAO strategy with business needs.

Accounting Functional Excellence

  • Follow and comply with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and current financial legislation for financial statements.
  • Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures, controls, and processes. Develop sustainable solutions for all identified control gaps and ensure they are implemented in a manner consistent with global standard process.\
  • Review and approve daily commodity reconciliations among brokers, counterparties, and internal reporting.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, and ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements. Review and approve all non-routine accounting entries per operational accounting policy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 2 + years experience in Accounting and/or Financial Reporting
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across the organization
  • Ability to understand and research complex transactions
  • High level of efficiency and accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Strong ERP (SAP) knowledge
  • English proficiency required

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Triple Point Trade System
  • CPA
  • Supply Chain Accounting experience

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $79500.00 - $119400.00 / Annually.
