THE POSITION

This position is required to work in person, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Juvenile Services Department is looking for a
Senior Accounting Assistant
to join our financial team. The
Senior Accounting Assistant
will work in a team atmosphere with another Senior Accounting Assistant and a Financial Analyst. The Juvenile Services Department is guided by the core values of integrity, excellence and teamwork.
The goal of the financial team is to be cross-trained on all job tasks so there are no gaps in service. The primary responsibilities of this position include being the Facilities liaison for the Department, handling telecommunications, onboarding and offboarding new or departing employee's and cell phone management. They will also be responsible for processing contract service provider authorization forms and reconciling contract billings, handling petty cash, processing tri-met hop passes, cross-train on accounts payable, accounts receivable (including deposits and converge payments), payroll and journal entries. Because they are a member of the overall support staff, they will be expected to cross-train on the Juvenile front desk so they can provide backup support to that position for absences or to cover breaks.
The
ideal candidate will possess an ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and prioritize time and work assignments effectively. They will use their financial expertise in reconciling various cost records, account controls and fiscal records related to payroll and contracts. Additionally, they will be responsible for performing technical accounting, while maintaining and balancing a variety of financial records. They must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a professional manner, communicating with county employees, contracted service providers, other governmental agencies, citizen groups and the public. Finally, they must organize, research, and maintain complex and confidential office files, and understand, interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Education and Experience:
- Possession of an Associate's Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Accounting Certificate (12 months) AND three (3) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Five (5) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.

Selection Process
