The Director of Dietary and Food Services is responsible for leading the overall operations, development, and performance of the Dietary and Food Services Department. This role ensures compliance with Hampton Hospital's standards, Joint Commission requirements, and other accrediting bodies. The director will oversee food production for patients, staff, and visitors, manage nutrition care programs, and coordinate catering services for both inpatient and outpatient settings. This individual will also drive departmental goals, prioritize patient satisfaction, and maintain alignment with the hospital's mission, vision, and values. You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the organization's food service function.
  • Monitors inventory levels and purchases food, kitchen equipment and other supplies as needed.
  • Directs staff in proper food handling techniques.
  • Maintains a safe, sanitary, organized, work environment.
  • Adequately schedules staffing for departmental needs following administrative guidelines.
  • Directs the department in ensuring systems are in place to protect patients, staff and visitors according to OSHA, Life Safety Code, NEC, BOCA code, JCAHO and State of New Jersey requirements.
  • Oversees and directs all administrative functions of the department, including policies, procedures and financial requirements.
  • Responsible for the clinical oversight of the Dieticians ensuring adherence to NJ Dietetics regulations, performance improvement activities and in-service and training of dietary staff.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition
  • Experience: 3- 5 years of supervisory/management experience in food services, preferably in healthcare.
  • Certification: Food Service Director and/or Registered Dietitian Certification required.
