Coordinator of Housing Administration and Off Campus Living - Georgetown University Law Center

Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation's capital. With the Hilltop Campus located in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and the Capitol Campus, just minutes from the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Supreme Court, Georgetown University offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, and unparalleled opportunities to engage with Washington, D.C. Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.

Requirements

Tradition. Innovation. A superb faculty. Hundreds of course offerings - and all of this just steps away from the Capitol and Supreme Court. Georgetown Law is an exceptional institution in an enviable location. Students come here from all over the world to study international or tax law, environmental or health care law (just a few of our specialties). They come here for our top-ranked clinics. Most of all, they come because this is the place where theory and practice meet. At Georgetown, students learn the law in the place where laws are made.

The Coordinator of Housing Administration and Off-Campus Living plans and directs the administrative functions of the Residence Life Department while working closely with the Director and Assistant Director on a daily basis. They serve as the initial contact for all staff, students, and visitors in the Gewirz Student Center. Specifically, the Coordinator monitors and reconciles department cost center reports, housing deposits, and all payments for the academic year and summer housing to ensure compliance with financial procedures. The person in this position is responsible for facilitating the administration of academic year assignments and billing processes. The coordinator also facilitates the administration of summer housing business functions. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with student staff, communicating with and reporting resident maintenance requests, managing and ordering office supplies, and answering inquiries from residents, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Maintain all records of personnel(staff) departmental reports, and all departmental files, preparing paperwork for the work-study staff members and all newly hired personnel.
  • Through schedule coordination with the Assistant Director and among the student staff, ensure that the Office of Residence Life is staffed 7 days a week.
  • Maintain the Residence Life website, handle weekly payroll, and provide program support for the department, creating and updating the Residence Life Administrative and Front Desk Procedures for the ORL Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Manage all off-campus housing processes, including close work with our third party off campus website provider.

The Coordinator must develop a knowledge base of local apartment communities and serve as a presenter for all off-campus housing events held on campus and is expected to be the primary resource for off-campus housing information, including:
  • Spring Off-Campus Housing Fair
  • Spring LL.M. Off-Campus Housing Presentation
  • Summer Off-Campus Housing Virtual Fair

Through knowledge of the off-campus housing community, the Coordinator will work closely with the Director in determining rate setting for on-campus housing. The Coordinator will be expected to get to know the apartment communities within walking distance of campus and establish contacts that will be helpful for Georgetown Law students seeking off-campus housing.

Work Interactions
The Coordinator of Housing Administration is crucial to the smooth running of the Office of Residence Life as the position serves as the primary contact with the student administrative staff and the principal financial manager in the department. While the principal role of Residence Life is to manage the on-campus resident population, the Coordinator serves a vital role as a resource for those seeking off-campus housing. This position reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and Student Housing, but will work daily with the Assistant Director of Residence Life on a number of collaborations. The Coordinator of Housing Administration and Off-Campus Living manages all administrative and financial aspects of Residence Life, which allows the Assistant Director of Residence Life to focus on the residents' well-being and programming that makes Gewirz a unique place to live.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of related experience required (or equivalent combination of work experience and education)
  • Effective computer and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Previous experience in university housing is preferred, but not a requirement
  • The ability to manage a social media portfolio is valuable
