Post-Doctoral Associate

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include synthesizing renewable monomers, polymers, and composites, characterizing raw materials and reaction products, and overseeing product performance testing. The post-doctoral scholar will manage and train undergraduate and graduate students and foster the development of fellow group members. They will also communicate research findings through publications in peer reviewed journals, presentations at meetings, writing quarterly reports, and discussions with commercial partners.

• 70% Laboratory Research
• 10% Training of graduate and undergraduate students
• 20% Writing manuscripts and presentations, and participation in meetings

Required qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in synthesizing and characterizing polymers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Expertise in synthetic polymer chemistry, polymer characterization techniques, and mechanical testing of materials
• Background in emulsion polymerization and familiarity with cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and nanofibrils
• Experience with NMR, SEC, DSC, DMA, and TEM

Pay Range: $60,000 - $61,008; depending on education/qualifications/experience
