Staff Accountant PRCC

Patriot Rail is a growing company that is looking for a dynamic professional to join its GL Accounting team. This individual will be responsible for timely, complete and accurate accounting records for multiple entity locations. The Staff Accountant is a critical position who will interact with various departments and ultimately help support the company's financial statement close process. This position is a full time, exempt position based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Prepare, calculate, and enter monthly journal entries into the accounting system

* Responsible for accounting for multiple entities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

* Coordinate month-end process with various operations managers, Accounts Payable and Revenue teams

* Analyze monthly financial performance against budget and prepare variance explanations

* Prepare ad hoc management reports as needed for research and explanation purposes

* Research, identify and correct unusual or incorrect accounting entries

* Prepare schedules and sample selections for audit requests

* Perform other job-related duties as directed

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

* Must have a strong foundation of accounting knowledge and be able to consistently apply GAAP

* Must possess flexibility with work assignments and be able to multi-task

* Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and organized

* Must maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information

* Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment

* Friendly and proven ability to work cross-functionally

* Must have advanced computer and Excel skills

* General knowledge of accounting and ERP systems

* General knowledge of SAP preferred

Minimum Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Associate is typically in an office environment but occasional may travel and/or visits a railroad, facility, warehouse or outdoor environment.
