Program Manager I - Field Engineering

MRIGlobal is seeking a highly motivated person to join our Integrated Defense Solutions Business Unit as a Program Manager I, working in the Kansas City office. This position reports to the IDS Director of Program Management. PMs plan and deliver all stages of the technical project. Manages project expenses, on-time delivery of services, products, and technical quality. The successful candidate will join and lead teams of scientists and engineers performing a variety of programs for government and industrial customers. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in US Government program management and field engineering, particularly mechanical and electrical engineering.


Principal Accountabilities and Success Factors

The Program Manager will be an integral part of our team providing services to address customer needs for point-of-need solutions. The successful candidates will provide assistance in forming work teams with the required technical expertise to meet client requirements for product quality, cost control, and timeliness. Technical expertise in relevant program areas is critical. Thorough knowledge of government and industrial contract work and contract research is required. This position requires the ability to pass a background investigation. In order to meet the government security investigation requirements, U.S. citizenship is a requirement.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage with staff at all levels across organizational lines.
  • Demonstrate high standards of ethical business and personal conduct through daily actions and personal example.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of contractual and financial principles and practices needed to integrate program operations with organization and department objectives business, cost accounting, and financial planning.
  • The ability to travel as required by marketing and client needs, often on short notice.
  • Author and/or review all contractually required deliverables
  • Writes or contributes to technical reports, and/or papers for publication or presentation with clear results and concise, well supported conclusions.
  • Interact with Clients to provide updates and summary of testing results.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a technical related field plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; B.S./B.A. in a technical related field plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; or appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading US Government Project teams
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, and Outlook) and ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Applicants MUST be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible to obtain a Department of Defense Clearance.
  • Demonstrate high standards of ethical business and personal conduct through daily actions and personal example



Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience managing or performing US Government programs
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Prior experience managing internal and external customers
  • Experience performing operations, logistics, and maintenance in field-forward settings
