Your Opportunity: Taylor Print & Visual Impressions, a division of Taylor Corporation, is looking for a Production Project Planner to act as a liaison between the Sales department and all other plant operations. This role involves receiving job specifications, comps, and digital files, and reviewing the provided information to determine the best course of action for our internal operations. The Production Project Planner will be responsible for planning the most efficient production route for each job. Additionally, this role includes initial job estimating and recommending alternative stocks and production methods as necessary.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and review production requirements based on job jackets and other supplied items
  • Organize production specifications for the job
  • Create production specification forms (write-ups, layouts, etc.) detailing parameters of the job
  • Coordinate the procurement of necessary job materials and any outside services required
  • Work with outside vendors scheduling and selecting best sources per required service
  • Maintain constant awareness of the production schedule, expediting jobs as necessary
  • Keep sales and account managers informed about any concerns associated with the project and work with the production team to reach positive resolutions to the issue
  • Estimate larger projects such as RFPs and complex multi-item projects
  • Assist with developing/mentoring employees

    You Must Have:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 3 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Basic understanding of the print process along with basic paper knowledge; paper grades
    • Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, customers, sales representatives, and employees
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and draw and interpret graphs; Strong math skills
    • Manage phone calls professionally and efficiently; ability to communicate both written and verbally
    • Ability to work well under pressure; work with diverse personalities and deal effectively with conflict
    • Strong work ethic, dependable, accountable, and displays a sense of urgency
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook system to include calendar, e-mail, task list; excellent computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and data entry skills
    • Proficient in Excel with the ability to create spreadsheets with simple formulas
    • Ability to use experience and independent judgment to make effective decisions
    • Excellent problem solving (think outside the box), follow-up, decision making, and organizational skills
    • Attention to details with minimal errors

    We Would Also Prefer:

    • Advanced negotiation skills and knowledge of press capabilities and printing procedures
    • A two or four-year degree
    • Knowledge and the ability to use computerized estimating systems, Monarch and Production Planning Software
    • Understanding of page layouts, press laybacks, etc
