The Saw Operator is responsible for producing parts using a horizontal band saw. The saw operator is responsible for producing a completed accurate product in a timely, cost effective and consistent manner to ensure a quality end product and on-time delivery in accordance with company procedures and policies and meet external customer requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Reading and comprehending instructions and following established procedures
  • Set up and operate the saw to cut metal objects
  • Select correct feeds, guides and stops, blade gaps and/or tooling for the job.
  • Able to read a blue print and work order instructions to correctly produce parts.
  • Help maintenance change the blade
  • Verifying the length of metal to specifications using rules, gauges or templates before cutting
  • Accurately cuts a variety of metals with differing characteristics.
  • Collecting the correct material to begin the process
  • Informs purchasing of stock issues
  • Unloading stock from trucks and inventorying it accurately.
  • Completing work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Cleaning and maintaining an organized work area
  • Maintains equipment
  • Maintaining all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
  • Recommends upgrades, repair or replacement of equipment to ensure consistent and reliable operation
  • Works safely and follows all company safety rules
