The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $65,400.00 - $107,900.00

The Virtual Military Education Resource Center Manager supervises the military student advisors in the Virtual Military Education Resource Center (VMERC); while developing, implementing, and monitoring effective services designed to support our military affiliated student population one -by- one. This includes support from admissions following intake through graduation. The VMERC manager will support military affiliated students to remove barriers to their education. While overseeing the VMERC center, the manager will ensure that the military and veteran students have a user-friendly experience navigating through the Resource Center prior to being directed to the appropriate department for their military education benefits. The manager will work closely with various leaders within our support teams, as well as marketing and the Edtech team to ensure that vital information is kept up to date on the VMERC. Reporting directly to the Director of Military and Veterans Benefits.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages a high-performance team of military affiliated individuals to provide support for military and veteran students.
  • Manager must have extensive knowledge of the University's educational delivery model, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Military and Veterans Benefits Operations Manager, Client Relations Manager, VITAL support, and other processing teams for cohesive collaboration ensuring military affiliated students are assimilated properly after orientation with the Resource Canter.
  • Ensure staff are supported through professional development aimed at improving efficiencies and performing within federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to employees.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with prospective and continuing students, faculty/mentors, and other university personnel.
  • Work with other departments in a professional and timely manner to ensure interdepartmental communication is maximized and student issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
  • Represent the University and its students in national professional associations.
  • Able to multi-task organize, prioritize, and follow projects and tasks through to their completion with diligence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Able to travel to events, conferences and workshops representing the University's Military and Veterans Benefits Department.
  • Maintain a friendly supportive atmosphere for the students.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of the diverse, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and backgrounds of the military affiliated population.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration or Social Work or equivalent work experience in one of these fields.

Experience

  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • 5 or more years of experience working with Military and Veterans.
  • 3 or more years of experience managing a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and other information management systems.
  • Experience in military systems such as Enrollment Manager, login. Gov, Army AI Portal, and other Department of Veteran Affairs and Department of Defense Systems
  • Military Affiliation
  • Web Design strongly preferred
