About the Role

Reporting to the GM Engineering within TED, the Practice Lead will be an Engineering discipline expert who delivers business focused outcomes which meet our regulatory obligations, promote asset integrity, lower lifecycle cost and lower-carbon energy. The Practice Lead will ensure discipline Engineering requirements are clearly documented, accessible and managed for the asset lifecycle. The Practice Lead will maintain a global perspective of assets through their lifecycle with a focus on consistent treatment of Engineering risk across the business. The role will also leverageglobal ecosystem networks to identify technology opportunities to add business value.

Duties & Responsibilities




  • Collaborate across multiple business areas and geographical locations.
  • Lead engagement with the discipline CoP and support to the Engineering Capability Manager on the capability delivery pillar.
  • Leverage our global university collaborators to identify and develop technical solutions and identify technology opportunities.
  • Developing and utilising global networks to identify and enable best practice discipline engineering.
  • Support Engineering capability through development of Engineering discipline competency requirements and strategic capability.
  • Delivering Engineering support for identification, qualification delivery of technology solutions into the business
  • Support development of appropriate discipline engineering assurance and governance activities
  • Engage with asset stakeholders and global technology partners.
  • Foster Safety leadership in line with Woodside's Safety Culture.
  • Drive safety culture in technology ideation and design, supporting Woodside's people and assets.



Skills & Experiences




  • 20+ years experience in rotating equipment engineering.
  • Experience with selection, operation, maintenance, condition & performance monitoring, troubleshooting and integrity management of:

    • Turbines (heavy duty industrial gas turbines, aeroderivative gas turbines, steam turbines)
    • Compressors (centrifugal, axial, reciprocating, screw)
    • Pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, cryogenic)
    • Reciprocating internal combustion engines
    • Bearings, lubrication & hydraulic systems
    • Shaft sealing systems.
    • Rotating equipment instrumentation & controls


  • Experience with:

    • API and ISO standards for rotating equipment
    • Rotating equipment lifecycle; selection and specification of rotating equipment, through to commissioning and operation
    • LNG plant operations
    • Qualification of rotating equipment for use by Company


  • Relationships with rotating equipment vendors, in particular Baker Hughes, Siemens Energy, Solar Turbines
  • Established peer networks in rotating equipment and oil & gas communities.
  • Able to lead virtual teams, agnostic to line or positional authority.
  • A track record leading engineering teams, programs of work and delivering business outcomes with real credibility across the business.
  • Business focused with strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to deliver technology solutions.
  • Skills in developing partnerships and fostering strategic alliances.
