Job Objective:
Act as Facilities Engineer delivering direct support to operations and maintenance in the Hilcorp North Slope Prudhoe Bay Unit. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering degree and power systems experience in oil & gas operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide facilities engineering support to operations and maintenance including as appropriate: Power generation, transmission & distributions systems, relay protection, EE code compliance, automation and controls, etc.
- Provide engineering support to ensure any repairs related to inspection findings, fitness for service evaluations or other performance anomalies are in compliance with industry codes, regulations, and Hilcorp specifications.
- Own and maintain the PBU ETAP Electrical Power System Model.
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) for SEL Powermax/SCADA systems. This position will be the single point (along with other HAK EEs) of contact for all potential changes and technical questions.
- Contribute to power generation facilities, Preventative/Reactive Maintenance program, evaluate generator test data and recommend actions to maintain generator reliability.
- Specify electrical code design specifications and construction standards for new and replacement equipment within scope.
- Provide engineering support in development and technical endorsement of Electrical Facilities MOC's.
- Approves facility electrical modifications, installation, decommissioning, and other related as needed.
- Engage and manage outside facilities engineering support (consultants and/or Engineering firms) on an as-needed basis, as agreed with the Operations Manager.
- Support Incident Investigations as a SME for Facilities.
- Establishment and monitor performance management metrics/KPIs.
- Manage scope, and schedules for all assigned projects. Hold self and others accountable for accomplishing tasks on time.
- Streamline procedures, employ new technologies, and develop innovative strategies to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensure alignment with Hilcorp policies and practices and applicable codes, recommended practices, and all government regulations.
- Support operations staff in evaluation and optimization of existing equipment.

- Work directly with gatherer modelers to identify and analyze each project for highest sustainable, economic value.

Qualifications:
- Five (5) years minimum electrical engineering experience in power generation, transmission & distribution, protection, automation, and I&C. Required experience shall include the design of, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning of heavy industrial power systems and associated equipment found in Power Generation and Oil & Gas Facilities.
- Experience in reading and creating electrical one-line diagrams, protection, and control logic drawings.
- Experience in reading and in creating block flow diagrams, P&IDs, data sheets, area classification, and specifications.
- Familiarity with the requirements for electrical installations in Hazardous Areas and relevant industry standards (NEC and API).
- Demonstrated competency in performing electrical power system calculations including but not limited to load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, equipment sizing, arc flash and relay coordination using ETAP.
- Experience with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories protective relays, their testing and settings development.
- Ability in developing self-directed teams to meet performance goals.
- Ability to demonstrate strong, dynamic team leadership skills.
- Ability to solve problems accurately and exceptional proficiency in interpreting production related data. Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Thorough understanding of equipment design, fabrication and installation practices including offshore facilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with special ability to translate complex technical information into an organized and presentable manner.
- Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of applicable codes/standards and industry regulations for power generation, transmission and electrical construction, including familiarity with oil & gas operations.
- Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to learn company specific applications.
- Outstanding management, administrative and organizational skills.
- Valid Driver's License and driving record free of violations for company to secure automobile insurance for the employees.
Education Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in electrical, protection, mechanical or controls engineering.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid State Driver's License.
- AK Professional Engineering License or ability to get reciprocity from another state within 1 year is desirable.
