Quality Documentation Specialist

Job Summary

The incumbent has the responsibility to review all final quality documentation, including nondestructive testing data and update the data in the relevant information systems as required. Additional responsibility will be to refile engineering documentation and input data to make it readily accessible and pull engineering drawings/documents for shopping packets when required.

Job Duties

  • Review open tank car final repair documentation shopping records on daily basis for cars in "final doc review" status in our fleet management system.
  • Review process will entail the following:
    1. Review necessary forms and required NDT data for accuracy and completeness.
    2. Contact internal and external repair shops or maintenance manager's to correct necessary forms as required.
    3. Use fleet management system to advise when final repair documentation is approved, which will initiate a disposition request for the car.
    4. Coordinating the engineering documentation which resides in several servers and electronically filing them in a central data location.
    5. As required, obtain documentation, such as drawings, project scopes of work, certificate of construction or other regulatory documentation required for repair shopping packets.
  • On an ad hoc basis, provide assistance to the Regulatory Compliance and Engineering groups.
  • Assist with the proper naming and filing of documentation in appropriate network folders, in coordination with Fleet Operations and Engineering.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Operations, Repair Services and other internal departments in continuous improvement efforts.

Job Requirements

  • General knowledge of nondestructive test (NDT) methods and ability to review technical documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • General proficiency utilizing MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently under strict deadlines
  • Maintain high energy on an ongoing basis, must have high stamina, be results driven, goal oriented and self-guided

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance or Equivalent experience in Quality and NDT
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred
  • Rail industry or transportation experience highly preferred but willing to consider relevant industry experience in lieu of education
