Position title: Temporary Lecturer in Physics Salary range:
A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $$68,247-$83,936. Application Window Open date: March 20, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Apr 4, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Thursday, Mar 5, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Physics within the Division of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego occasionally has openings for temporary, non-tenure track lecturers throughout the academic year. The most frequent need is for individuals to teach large-enrollment introductory physics courses for life sciences majors (Physics 1A/1B/1C), engineering and science students (Physics 2A/2B/2C), and non-science majors (Physics 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13). Additional teaching opportunities in other physics courses may arise based on departmental needs. Appointments may be part-time or full-time and can range from a single academic quarter to a full year. The Department is committed to academic excellence and diversity within its faculty, staff, and student body. Successful candidates will be evaluated based on their scientific background, teaching accomplishments, and potential for leadership in areas that contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and aligned with the University of California pay scale. These positions primarily focus on teaching physics courses, particularly introductory laboratory and lecture courses for non-majors. There may also be opportunities for involvement in related activities, such as curriculum development and teaching assistant training. Qualifications Basic qualifications

Applicants must be within one semester of completing a master's degree in Physics or a closely related field. Candidates must have at least one semester or quarter of prior university-level teaching experience in physics or related undergraduate courses. (Teaching experience as a teaching assistant qualifies.) Additional qualifications

Candidates must have a master's degree awarded before the start of their first quarter of teaching. Preferred qualifications
