Machine Delivery and Demo Coordinator

Description

The Machine Delivery & Demo Coordinator is responsible for the safe transportation of CAT Compact Construction Equipment (CCE) to customer and allied rental partner's sites and provides equipment demonstration, training, and customer support.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:

* Loads equipment on flatbed trailer, secures with tie-down equipment, transports, and delivers to customer's site

* Checks all equipment-related documentation for completeness and accuracy

* Ensures demonstration of equipment is completed during pre- and post-sales

* Performs minor troubleshooting and on-site repairs

* Revisits and follows up with customers post sales for additional assistance

* Performs basic installations of accessories such as radios, display screens, and cameras

* Checks vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order

* Maintains records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations

* Participates in local and national CAT training programs



  • Maintains vehicle in clean and in good working condition


* Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures

* Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

* Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

* Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* General knowledge of compact construction equipment and work tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

* Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance



  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems


* Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems

* Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

* Selling skills sufficient to properly instruct customers in the basics techniques for customer satisfaction

* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to develop rapport with customers

* Ability to operate compact construction equipment

* Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair

* The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions

* The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

* The ability to read, write, and understand information

* The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

* Ability to work on multiple projects and deal effectively with employees and customers

* Ability to work independently as well as a part of a diversified team

Education and Experience:

* Minimum of one to three years of related experience required; four or more years preferred

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL) required

* Experience operating a one ton diesel truck, pulling 14,000 - 16,000 lbs. GVW trailer

Supervisory Responsibilities:

* None

Travel:

* Travel to customer sites is expected for this position within 150 mile radius

Physical Requirements:

* Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

* Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

* Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina

* Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment

* Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment

* Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:

* Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and equipment

* Required to spend long periods of time driving trucks; often, in heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions. Drives in both urban street and rural environments; including unimproved roads

* Exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances, and work in or near construction/agricultural sites

* Noise level may be loud at times

* Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment

* Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
