Purchasing Assistant - Full time - Sterling Heights

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assists with all administrative functions within the department plus merchandising assignments. Participates in renovation and construction projects for offices, including onsite work.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintain data files for frame and accessories and pricing.
  • Maintain the Frame Resource book and brand sheets for frame information by vendor and location.
  • Calculate department contest summaries.
  • Conducts Contact Lens wholesale pricing audits.
  • Oversees office contact lens returns and credits.
  • Layout hardcopy price list for contact lenses
  • Participate in the planning and opening of new offices and remodels.
  • Merchandise retail floor of new offices and remodels. Plan product layout to include buying frame rods and tier stands. Installation of frame rods at the locations.
  • Produce department reports.
  • Process and manage monthly SVC dispensing supply auto shipment; eyeglass cases and cleaner.
  • Obtains bids and purchases non-retail items, to include furniture.
  • Plan and assist with the execution of merchandising seasonal and brand launches for offices.
  • Inventory and process frames in the sample room.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Requires a high school diploma or GED. Associates Degree in merchandising, retail, business or related field preferred
  • Previous merchandising experience preferred
  • Requires computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be professional, courteous and a team player
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires strong knowledge of business math
  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS' Customer Service Policy



WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Works in a retail office environment. Works evening and weekend hours as needed.
