The Sr. Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing and administering the complex payroll process for Canada and US, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, union, provincial and company policies. This position manages the payroll system in partnership with the HRIS and Human Resource teams and is always looking at ways to innovate and optimize the way they work to support the growth of the organization. Having a strong understanding of the WORKDAY ecosystem, the Sr. Payroll Administrator will serve as a mentor/trainer and assist the payroll team with questions. This role will have a strong understanding of audit requirements to ensure the business of payroll is compliant and assist in both internal and external audits. What you will do:



  • Responsible for complex payroll processing in Canada, maintaining compliance with all Provincial laws, regulations, and union requirements while ensuring accuracy of all wage calculations, withholdings, deductions, and changes
  • Reconcile and identify risks to prevent issues with accuracy, timeliness, and production. Make recommendations and take appropriate action to address identified issues
  • Partner with Human Resources to resolve escalated complex payroll cases utilizing research and knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, local, state, wage and hour laws
  • Review payroll process and ensure it is in line with company philosophy and recommend internal control or efficiency enhancements
  • Create and run requested reports to include year-end data, union fringes, GL data and other requested items for both US and Canada
  • Responsible for identifying union updates that affect payroll configuration
  • Maintain required payroll files and records
  • Manage Child Support orders, garnishments and levies to ensure orders are in compliance
  • Assist other practitioners with questions and resolving issues
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist with year-end tasks and reconciliation for both Canada and US
  • Complete bank and tax reconciliations by payroll, quarter, and year
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Project assignments as directed by Sr. Payroll Manager

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ Years of payroll processing experience
  • 5+ Years of Canadian payroll processing including year end
  • Experience in Union payroll processing
  • Experience with Workday HRIS platform
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Project Management skills
  • Strong US Payroll process knowledge
  • Experience with Payroll Software such as ADP EV5, ADP E-TIME, ADP SmartCompliance

The typical hourly salary for this position ranges from $28.61 to $43.51 per hour in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
