What You Will Do

The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing manufacturing or business processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance production workflows, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.

A Typical Day at Prime Controls

    Design, evaluate, and improve manufacturing or operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistency in production.
  • Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, R&D) to troubleshoot process issues.
  • Optimize workflow layouts, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and automation technologies to improve productivity.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for process failures and develop corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Work closely with the safety team to ensure compliance.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing and refining production processes.
  • Train operators and production staff on new or updated processes.

What You Will Bring

The Basic

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or related experience).
  • Experience: 2-5+ years in process engineering, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in process modeling and simulation tools (AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning.
  • Strong understanding of Lean, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Primarily works in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
  • May require hands-on work on the production floor and occasional office tasks.
  • Requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.

The Preferred

  • Certifications: Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), Lean Manufacturing, PMP.
  • Industry Experience: Automotive, aerospace, electronics, contract manufacturing, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Experience with process validation, statistical process control (SPC), and DOE (Design of Experiments).
