Compensation:

* Base Pay Range: $41.89 - $61.27 per hour, based on experience

* Special Pay: Additional $3.00 per hour

* Shift Differentials: Additional $4.00 per hour for night shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Support the Clinical Manager and other supervisors through activities including hiring, staff development, evaluation of staff competencies, employee engagement, and staff coaching as needed. Systematically review and document staff work in progress to ascertain expectations and clinical competencies. Complete monthly rounding and quarterly GROW discussions with staff members.

Identify opportunities for improving services and patient outcomes in collaboration with stakeholders. Share information with NM, DONs, ED, and CNE as appropriate.

Serve as a clinical and behavioral patient resource for the education of staff, clinicians, and ancillary team members. Respond to clinical and behavioral escalations as a resource and leader for respondents.

Act as incident commander or leader in emergent situations at the MUPC location until the AOD arrives. If the situation is specific to MUPC, act as incident commander or leader, including report of all events/incidents in the MUPC reporting system.

Ensure next-shift staffing is appropriate for the acuity level while recognizing the diverse skill levels of individual staff members and the unique needs of the patient population.

Recognize and prioritize bed placement, patient movement, and throughput of patients, adjusting to expected and unexpected needs. Arrange transport of patients when appropriate.

Monitor expenditures and maintain operational costs within the facility budget, cost-effectively utilizing human and material resources.

Promote and achieve the satisfaction of external and internal customers. Effectively intercede with families and patients to resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care services.

Lead daily huddles with frontline staff members and ensure visibility and support by rounding throughout all assigned units during shift.

Serve as liaison between UH House Manager and MUPC for any escalation of physical or clinical needs that may impact acute care facilities or engagement of Administrator on Duty.

Serve on hospital and departmental committees as assigned by the manager.

Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.

Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

One (1) year of acute care and/or operating room RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
