OVERVIEW:

The Director, Sales Controlling US is a highly visible role that includes frequent interaction with North America Leadership Team and other key internal stakeholders.

You will lead the Sales Controlling function of five direct reports to drive financial discipline and rigor through the Sales organisation whilst delivering process and systems enhancements, performance analytics and supporting key strategic decision making.

As a key member of North America Finance Leadership team, you will contribute to the sustainable advancement of the Finance function, ensuring strong talent development and continuity.

You will also form part of the Sales & Commercial Leadership Team where you will have strong influence across Commercial Strategy, RGM, Shopper and Customer Account team leads.

This role reports to Vice President, Finance North America.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Rigor and Governance

  • Contribute to an environment of increased financial awareness across the business whilst holding teams accountable to deliver their commitments.
  • Drive governance and risk mitigation principles in accordance with Beiersdorf guidelines.
  • Design sustainable processes to support the Sales function to deliver the business objectives

Business Partnering

  • Build strong relationships with Sales Leadership Team, including Vice President of Sale US.
  • Partner and empower direct reports to enhance financial acumen of account sales team to improve team performance.
  • Provide financial insights into Sales whilst contributing to business reviews and the S&OP process.
  • Deliver fact based financial scenarios & impact analysis for customer negotiations.

Trade & Promotion Management

  • Full ownership of the Trade & Promo Management system (TPM) ensuring its integrity and functionality
  • Trade Term budget management through driving accountability and discipline within Sales
  • Raising awareness to management on potential Net Sales and KPI impacts of investment decisions

Performance Management

  • Contribute to monthly / quarterly business performance reviews through preparation and analysis of comprehensive and detailed results.
  • Challenge tactical decision making to course-correct and deliver results.

Annual Business Planning

  • Partner with Sales to build company plans with clear assumptions/drivers while tracking the performance at the brand and customer dimensions.
  • Be the challenger / sounding board on Sales assumptions

Leadership

  • Directly lead 5 team members towards reaching department, company and personal development goals.
  • Permanent member of the US Finance & Sales Leadership Teams.

Senior Management Support

  • Provide insightful analysis of business results to the North America Leadership Team and perform ad hoc analyses that lead to problem solving and business improving recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA required. MBA in Finance or related field highly desirable
  • 7-10 years of Finance or similar experience at Beiersdorf or other FMCG Company
  • 3-5 years of commercial controlling and other financial experience in other types of roles
  • 3-5 years experience of leading a team
  • Proven experience with Business partnering and effectively building relationships
  • Strong business analytics skills with ability to influence with data
  • Strong system skills including SAP, BI systems and comfort working with complex databases
  • Strong understanding of accounting and finance (P&L, Balance Sheet construction)
  • Strong English communication skills both written and verbally
  • Flexibility for occasional travel
