Job Description:

Intern - Systems Operations Group - Engineering Focus

This position in Microchip Technology Corp Systems Operations group is intended for college students embarking on a graduate/undergraduate program wishing to explore the multiple disciplines of manufacturing operations to determine a potential career path; manufacturing, supply chain, planning, quality, logistics, engineering, and many others. These positions are a paid internship. The hourly rate will be negotiated based on work experience and education level. The internship will require minimum 40 hours per week during "summer" months and target 20 hours per week during school year if applicable. Participants in the Microchip intern program will receive preference when applying for full time employment upon graduation into an NCG role.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active student status - currently enrolled and taking classes
  • Pursuing a masters, bachelors, associate, or apprenticeship as part of a vocational program.
  • Interested in learning about an operations discipline
  • Smart, honest, hard-working, responsible, eager to learn, enthusiastic, a team player

Ops Engineering paths based on skills, training, and interests - what you will learn or do

  • Engineering - test engineering, process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, creating routes, creating BOM's, creating work instructions and procedures, training employees, PFMECA, SPC, Troubleshooting diagrams, statistical quality tools, data capture, bar-coding, label printers, visual aids, tooling design, fixture design, automated test equipment, software development, final test, manufacturing layout - line design, kanban design, capacity analysis, capacity modelling, capital investment - equipment selection and commissioning, process development, material analysis, root cause and corrective action, teamwork, workmanship standards, workstation layout, ergonomics, safety, environmental controls (temp, humidity, ESD, lighting, etc.,), material flow, material handling, continual improvement, yield measurement, yield improvement, NPI, pilot production, production release, ECO, TDA, NCR/MRB, CAPA, field failure analyses, 8D, SSQL database, data reporting, product analysis, reliability engineering

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Strong Interpersonal Skills
    • Proven planning, organizational and communication skills
    • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software (specifically Excel)
    • Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Ability to reliably get to work on time
    • Present yourself in a professional manner
    • US citizen or permanent resident
