Join us as our new Venture Development Manager-Biosolutions!

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced commercial-minded and partnership-driven Venture and Support Development Manager to join our global Ventures & External Innovation team for North American Bioeconomy. This role is pivotal for driving long-term growth and fostering strong relationships with relevant start-ups and corporate customers to establish innovation partnerships in the field of industrial biotechnology. You will build and help mature our mid- to long-term growth venture pipeline. The ideal candidate brings experience and relationships in biosolutions including bioenergy/biofuels.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Pursuing and managing commercial and strategic partnerships with start-ups and corporate business centered around industrial biotechnology innovation in areas adjacent or explorative to Novonesis' core businesses

  • Working in close collaboration with the Ventures & External Innovation colleagues from scouting and assessment, the venture leads, and venture technology team - and collaborating with the cross-functional colleagues from across the corporate organization, including global marketing, regional sales, and global R&D

  • Validating the commercial viability of innovation and opportunities by engaging and testing with commercial partners/customers by leveraging MVPs, testing hypotheses and challenging business case assumptions

  • Owning external relationships and leading negotiations of mutually beneficial agreements (e.g., commercial or technology development) with external innovation partners and third parties, such as service providers, suppliers, or downstream customers

  • Knowledge of decarbonization, carbon intensity (incl. regulatory and voluntary market dynamics) and experience and connections in the value chains of agriculture, biofuels, biochemicals are strongly desired - especially bioethanol market in North America

  • Managing the interface between corporate ventures and established customer relationships owned by line-of-business sales managers

  • Building industry relationships within the industrial biotechnology industry and the biotech startup and venture capital customers by actively participating in industry events including conferences and association meetings

  • Monitoring industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.

To succeed you must hold:

  • 5+ years of selling/development experience in industrial biotechnology innovation, preferably biofuels

  • Proven experience in business development with a track record in establishing and managing commercial relationships with start-ups and corporate accounts

  • Strong customer relationship management and ability to challenge customers' status quo and willingness to implement large-scale capital investment projects

  • Ability to present business cases, opportunity assessments, analyses, and solutions to complex problems in a precise manner with exceptional problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, to lead, and be a team player

  • Willingness to travel (>30%) as required

Location: Remote

Expected salary range: $ 125,000-165,000 base + bonus
