Summary of Position Functions

The Performance Assurance Engineer is responsible for managing the Measurement and Verification (M&V) program. This role involves verifying energy calculations, developing and reviewing M&V plans, and ensuring compliance with performance guarantees. The ideal candidate will have expertise in energy efficiency protocols such as the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).

Essential Position Functions

  • Analyzes and verifies energy savings calculations for performance contracting projects.
  • Ensures accuracy in energy modeling and projections based on project specifications.
  • Develops comprehensive M&V plans in alignment with IPMVP standards.
  • Conducts reviews of M&V reports to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitors project performance and document energy savings achieved.
  • Reviews performance guarantee exhibits to ensure alignment with contractual agreements.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies in performance expectations.
  • Prepares detailed reports summarizing project outcomes, energy savings, and compliance metrics.
  • Maintains organized records of all project-related calculations, reports, and correspondence.
  • Works closely with engineering teams, contractors, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Provides technical expertise during client meetings to address concerns related to energy savings.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field) from four-year college or university; or five + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in performance assurance or energy efficiency projects required.
  • Proven experience in performance contracting or related fields required.
  • Strong familiarity with energy efficiency protocols such as IPMVP and ASHRAE Guideline 14 required.
  • Computer software proficiency including data analysis tools and software used for energy modeling required.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems or mechanical systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Ability to maintain a proactive approach in problem solving and issue management.
  • Ability to identify trends in energy consumption.
  • Knowledge and expertise in developing M&V plans and verifying compliance with energy savings guarantees as well as hands-on experience with M&V processes and reviewing performance guarantees.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents such as engineering reports and performance exhibits.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
