Position Title: High School Rally Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director and Administration
Supervises: Assistant Coach (if required), team staff, including volunteers and student athletes
Salary: Per negotiated contract
General Description: The High School Rally Coach is responsible for leading and developing the cheerleading program to promote school spirit, sportsmanship, student engagement and uphold Bobcat Cheer traditions. This position involves instructing and mentoring student-athletes, fostering teamwork, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. The coach will oversee practices and cheer activities at athletic events, school functions, and competitions while upholding the district's mission, board and OSAA policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Others may be assigned.
  1. Develop and implement an open program focused on skill development, improvement, conditioning, safety and sportsmanship.
  2. Adheres to the policies of the Board of Education, District building standard practices and guidelines, the OSAA and the League.
  3. Attend all meetings scheduled by administration, Athletic Director and League.
  4. Assist the Athletic Director in maintaining student eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
  5. Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding schedules, transportation, and event logistics.
  6. Plan, organize, and conduct tryouts, practices, and performances.
  7. Assesses participant skills, provides proper active supervision during all scheduled activities including, but not limited to, practices, games, competitions, and events, locker room, and transportation areas.
  8. Provide firm, fair, and consistent discipline. Report serious infractions of rules or other participant related issues to the Athletic Director as soon as possible.
  9. Model and promote good sportsmanship and appropriate competitive attitude of the team. Recognize good execution of the sport and work both individually and as a team to strengthen weaknesses in a positive, respectful and professional manner.
  10. Practice professional conduct during events and practices. Exemplify high standards of personal conduct and habits.
  11. Emphasize the importance of academic achievement of student athletes.
  12. Completes an injury report within 24 hours after an athlete has been injured during practice or competitions.
  13. Fosters good school-community relations by creating good communications and a positive relationship with students, parents, other members of the community, and the media.
  14. Publicizes the sport and encourages student participation by personal contact.
  15. Demonstrates the ability to provide effective individual/group instruction.
  16. Helps to ensure the proper use, care and management of facilities, uniforms and equipment.
  17. Follow safe procedures during practices and scheduled events to prevent and provide care for injuries. Have and apply personal knowledge of emergency first aid procedures.
  18. Participate in special activities as needed, such as parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  19. Demonstrates an understanding knowledge of current rules and regulations regarding the sport as presented by the OSAA endorsed rule book.
  20. Keeps abreast of new coaching developments, innovative ideas and techniques by attendance at clinics, workshops, and reading relevant materials.
  21. Manage team fundraising efforts and oversee budget allocations.
  22. Ensure security of activity areas and building keys.
  23. Promote the athletic program and support Nestucca High School programs as a whole.
  24. This position requires reliable and consistent attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous cheer coaching or relevant experience preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR, and concussion training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of cheer techniques, stunting safety, routines, tumbling, dances and game-day performances.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Commitment to upholding district values and promoting student success.
Work Conditions and Expectations:
  • Evening and weekend commitments for games, competitions, and events.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate cheer techniques and supervise practices.
  • Travel may be required for competitions and school events.
Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director with assistance from district administration.
