Job Summary and Responsibilities

A Database Architect is responsible for migrating and automating MS Access databases, designing and developing new database structures, and optimizing performance using SQL Server. This role involves upgrading VBA code, integrating data from multiple sources, and providing user support and training while ensuring comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Convert MS Access Databases: Migrate existing MS Access databases from 2016 32-bit to 2024 64-bit versions, ensuring data integrity and functionality.
  • Database Automation: Develop and implement complex stored procedures in SQL Server to automate MS Access databases, enhancing efficiency and performance.
  • Database Design and Development: Design, develop, and maintain MS Access databases, including tables, queries, forms, reports, and switchboards.
  • VBA and Macros: Upgrade existing VBA code and write new, enhanced VBA code and macros to automate tasks and improve database functionality.
  • Data Integration: : Leverage SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to efficiently integrate and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.
  • User Support and Training: Provide support and training to end-users.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for database structures, processes, and procedures.


Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in building and maintaining MS Access databases. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Access, including tables, queries, forms, reports, and switchboards.
  • Strong knowledge of VBA and macros, with the ability to upgrade existing code and write enhanced VBA code.
  • Experience with SQL Server, including complex stored procedures and SSIS.
