Pay rate : $39.26 + $4.93 (Health and Welfare) Job Summary Locksmith related services will include providing key services and support to the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Services may be expanded to add additional agencies, as the Suitland Federal Center (SFC) is a multi-tenant building, housing the General Services Administration (GSA), Department of Commerce Office of Security (OSY), and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Primary services and duties follow below. Primary Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.
- Maintain new and existing electronic key cabinets that house special and master keys for the facility with direct coordination with OSY and GSA.
- Maintain the key inventory database for all Census Bureau room locations and specified furniture items.
- Delineation of master keys for the Census Bureau, BEA, and additional SFC tenants as requested.
- Maintain a register log for temporarily signing in and out keys.
- Maintain a minimum of 2 keys for each door as a program standard.
Additional Duties
- Maintain inventory of key cabinets aligned with the Census Bureau's requirements.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys upon request managed by the Census Bureau or BEA.
- Repairs various lock-specific items, systems, and/or components.
- Coordinates with the Census Bureau, GSA, and OSY to resolve issues of security-related locks, keys, and cores.
- Provide repairs for panic bars, mortise case locks, systems, and non-systems office furniture.
- Provide service procedures for keying and cylinder core installation of office furniture, doors, and system furniture (as requested).
- Fabrication of unique locks and locking devices.
- Diagnose malfunctions of security systems to identify repair/replacement requirements.
- Perform minor repairs or modifications to the door and/or frame.
- Perform re-keying of locks and changes to combinations.
- Facilitate any additional key cutting as requested.
- Provide repairs for panic bars, mortise case locks, systems, and non-systems office furniture.
- Provide service procedures for keying and cylinder core installation of office furniture, doors, and system furniture (as requested).
- Fabrication of unique locks and locking devices.
- Diagnose malfunctions of security systems for the purpose of identifying repair/replacement requirements.
- Perform minor repair or modifications to door and/or frame.
- Perform re-keying of locks and changes to combinations.
- Facilitate any additional key cutting as requested.
- Must have certification and requisite knowledge to open and service the following combination locks: Mosler 302, S&G 8400, MAS Hamilton X07, X08, X09, Kaba Mas X-10.
- Demonstrate proper service procedures for installing, dialing, opening, and changing combinations, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical safe locks from UL Group I, Group II, and various electronic combination locks.
- Maintain and process all inventory-related documentation per specified guidelines and retain it within the census-provided inventory system.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM).
- Maintain a PM schedule that will ensure that all locks, maglocks, and safes are operational and extend their life.
- Perform PM on safes when the combination changes.
- A log will be maintained and provided to the COR/ACOR for inspection.
- Respond to Remedy Service tickets and provide timely key service requests.
- Maintains tools and/or equipment to ensure its availability and safe operating condition.
- Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
- High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) required.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in master keying and lock repair required.
- Specialized training for GSA-approved combination locks from the Lockmasters Security Institute: Courses/Certifications should include Pro Lock I, II, III.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.
- Basic typing skills.
