UVA Medical Associates of Louisa in Louisa, VA is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant for a full time APP position with their practice.
Position Overview UVA Medical Associates of Louisa, part of the UVA Health System, is a well-established primary care practice serving patients of all ages in Louisa, VA. The clinic provides comprehensive healthcare services, including preventive care, chronic disease management, immunizations, and acute care, with seamless access to UVA specialists for advanced treatment when needed. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in an outpatient primary care setting, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The APP will practice within the scope of their licensure, training, and credentialing to ensure exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Patient Management:
- Conducts independent patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans in alignment with UVA Health System protocols.
- Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, initiating emergency interventions as needed.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory studies, imaging).
- Prescribes medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive Authority regulations.
- Performs in-office procedures within credentialed scope of practice.
- Coordinates referrals and consults with specialists within UVA Health when necessary.
- Provides patient education on disease processes, medications, and treatment plans, ensuring effective communication with patients and families.
Collaboration & Compliance:
- Works closely with the medical director, administrative leadership, and interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
- Participates in on-call responsibilities, if applicable.
- Ensures compliance with UVA Medical Center, UVA Physicians Group (UPG), CMS, and other payer policies.
- Accurately assigns Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD-10 codes for billing and documentation.
- Adheres to legal and governmental reporting requirements, such as reporting communicable diseases.
Professional Development & Community Engagement:
- Participates in continuing education, conferences, and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge.
- Serves as a clinical resource for nursing, medical, and allied health professionals.
- Engages in teaching and mentorship opportunities for medical, nursing, and advanced practice students.
- Supports quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Virginia.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, etc.).
- Experience in primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
