Job Description The Advanced Systems & Integration Unit is focused on identifying and evaluating the feasibility of disruptive technologies and nuclear reactor plant concepts that could offer a significant advantage for the US Navy. This position will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute significantly to the search for, as well as the evaluation and development of, naval reactor plant technologies and topologies. The successful candidate will be expected to identify opportunities to apply their education and modest experience in a self-directed way, be self-motivated to learn new things, and evaluate concepts as they develop a strong foundation of system- and platform-level knowledge of today's technology. Other characteristics of the successful candidate: * A desire to continually challenge the status quo in a positive, constructive, and creative manner based on sound engineering fundamentals. * Ability to thrive in an environment that requires self-direction, unconstrained thinking, ingenuity, collaboration, and the proactive pursuit of new technologies and/or new system level concepts. * Maintaining perspective and demonstrating perseverance when strategic goals redirect work efforts * Ability to balance detail oriented technical analysis with the appropriate level of effort for a given evaluation Essential duties for this position include: * Aid management in developing and executing the short- and long-term goals * Creativity to discover and apply outside research to develop and propose new concepts * Provide technical and career mentoring to new and experienced engineers * Prepare and deliver effective presentations to all levels in the organization and external organizations including Naval Reactors * Strong communication (written and oral), interpersonal, project management, and leadership skills Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or SRE qualified. Pay Range $76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only.
