What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical/Integrated Circuit (IC) Reliability Engineer to develop and implement tools for assessing the reliability of low-volume, high-consequence Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). The successful candidate will model IC degradation modes and plan the qualification of manufacturing technologies and products, enhancing quality and reliability. You will create production monitoring and screening schemes to ensure process stability and that products meet quality standards. Additionally, you will develop new acceleration techniques, test methods, and analytical tools for reliability process optimization. The role requires influencing design, process, product, and testing solutions, as well as establishing qualification stress methods and criteria. Finally, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on multi-disciplinary projects to address complex challenges.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Analyze data to assess product health.

  • Develop techniques to improve product screening capability.

  • Interface with design, failure analysis, test, and Product Realization Teams to solve issues while ensuring reliability.

  • Determine requirements and technology targets of components and systems to achieve reliability objectives.

  • Design and implement experiments to identify, segment, characterize and model reliability mechanisms.

  • Develop empirical and physics based predictive reliability modeling methods and tools for reliability risk assessments.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$114,000 - $227,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or relevant STEM field plus five (5) of relevant experience or;

  • Master's Degree in the above fields plus one (1) or more years of relevant experience

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • PhD in the above fields

  • Two (2) or more years of relevant Reliability Engineering experience

  • Ability to write programs in advance languages (i.e. C, JSL, Python, etc.)

  • Knowledge and experience with statistical applications (i.e. JMP, Minitab, etc.)

About Our Team:

We provide support for and advocacy of engineering best practices that achieve cost and time effective product realization for 1700's microelectronic and electronic products using a layered, defect prevention strategy and lean six sigma tools. The defect prevention strategy is used to detect and remove defects at every phase of product realization. The lean six sigma tools are used to remove complexity from existing processes a major source of defect generation as well as waste. During product design, development, and qualification we use a systematic framework to manage requirements and configuration documentation, ensure the team's project plan includes activities and deliverables needed for final product acceptance, verify and validate the robustness of the design, assembly, and test processes to meet requirements and customer expectations, and optimize the transition of the design to production. During product manufacturing and production, we interface with process owners, supplier quality engineers, and product acceptance inspectors to provide verification and documented evidence that the product and critical manufacturing processes meet the design intent and to minimize the costs of nonconformance (scrap, rework, etc.)

Posting Duration:

This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

EEO:

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status and any other protected class under state or federal law.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
