Title: Instrument & Electrical Technician
Location: St. Gabriel, LA

Salary: $41.80 per hour
Schedule: 4-10s

Focus: This position is a technical expert in the area of Instrumentation and Electrical in units of a specialty chemical plant producing Chlor-Alkali.

Instrument & Electrical Technicians troubleshoot equipment instrumentation, control systems (DCS/PLC/MLC) and the ladder logic. Instrument & Electrical Technicians receive very little descriptive information concerning the production problem and learn to calibrate, install, and maintain a variety of instruments used to measure temperature, level, pressure, and flow. He or she will install and maintain electrical and pneumatic systems; monitor specific equipment (CEMS, pH, Conductivity) and may monitor and replace control or pressure relief valves and rupture discs and will maintain and troubleshoots low voltage sensors including proximity switches and photo eyes. Instrument & Electrical Technicians will participate in safety meetings and training activities and follow established safety and operating procedures and practices.

Job activities involve working near heavy equipment, hazardous materials, at heights (up to 150 ft.), in extreme temperatures, confined areas, moving machinery and near high voltage electricity and nuclear detection device. Improper actions or mistakes could result in serious injury or lethal accidents. Errors in work could result in loss of quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Errors in judgment could result in serious damage to machines and equipment costing thousands of dollars. Violation of environmental regulations could result in fines or penalties.

Instrument & Electrical Technician Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years Instrumentation or Electrical work experience (industrial setting preferred); Journey level Instrument Technician or Electrician certification strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as an Instrument Technician or Electrician as a primary craft. Candidates that possess a secondary instrumentation/electrician skill will be given preference in the hiring process.
  • A complete employment application explaining a detailed work history (must cover at least 5 years/60 months instrumentation or electrical work experience)
  • Must be able to work call-ins and overtime when support is needed.
  • Able to pass a functional physical testing and able to use standard safety equipment; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.
  • Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Pass a physical, drug screen and background check if job offer is received and accepted.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
