Position Summary

The On-Site DDS Production Controller I's primary responsibilities are maintenance, review, tracking, and preparation for certification of Task Group Instructions, Condition Reports, LARs/RLARs, and all other technical work documents. He/she will assist the Project Manager with the myriad of details associated with material, schedules, and resource availability. Coordinates with other areas of the business in support of project and customer objectives.

Interface with Project Managers, Supervisors, Craftsmen, NDT inspectors, Quality Assurance and other departments and organizations as required to support assigned projects. Interface will involve obtaining and providing information on matters of importance to the assigned Project Manager (s) and Asst Program Manager (s).

Duties & Responsibilities

The Production Controller I directly reports to a Project Manager or Asst Program Manager in the performance of his/her duties. The Production Controller's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • This position is primarily based in Chesapeake Va. However, occasional travel is required.
  • Track and manage all aspects of DDS Production Material.
  • May be asked to perform in a Production Supervisor role at the direction of the Asst Program Manager.
  • Develop Statements of Work.
  • Monitor vendor performance and conduct periodic site evaluations as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Develop Quotes and approve expenditures up to your authorized limit.
  • Track, maintain, and review TGIs, the TGI Matrix, Condition Reports, the CR Log, LARs and associated revisions, Kitting of Material per TGI/JML and CR# for RAV's, ROH's and FC's.
  • Maintain DDS daily reports.
  • Provide status to assigned Project Manager that includes the following:

o Purchased Material Status Late & Due, Received, Shipped (include tracking numbers and manifests), Estimated Delivery Dates, Materials at vendor status (eg: plastisol, waterjet cut), Shop pre-fab. Expedite by interface with Materials Expediter.

o Prefabricated materials status with ECD/EDD



  • Provide a report to the Asst Program Manager that details the following for all assigned projects:

o TGI status.

o Total required, issued (indicate P & E status for completion), working and closed (Updated TGI Matrix for EVMs).

o Key Events, Milestones & Critical Path dates including but not limited to estimated completion, Fast Cruise, Undocking, and Certification.



  • Develop & maintain spreadsheets for tracking status of TGIs and JML Material.
  • Write Condition Reports to support production work.
  • Development and routing of MOAs.
  • Development of POAMs
  • Track project discrepancies and provide weekly list to Project Manager.
  • Pack out, and shipping of tools, equipment and materials for assigned projects.
  • Fill out shop fab worksheets for work to be performed in machine shop.
  • Fill out and submit PR's to purchasing as required.
  • Submit Daily CR Priority List to WFE.
  • Attend meetings for Asst Program Manager or Project Manager as required.
  • Manage the resolution of all TGI TWD Review sheets
    .

Qualifications


  • High School/GED or equivalent; additional vocation courses preferred.
  • Must be able to establish relationships and maintain good communication channels.
  • Minimum one- year experience working in a SUBSAFE/SOC environment.
  • Experience handling L-1 and MCD material is preferred. Trades knowledge is a must.
  • Personal computer literate and familiar with various Microsoft Word processing/database software. Effectively communicate with personnel within the company.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance.

The shipyard/base/manufacturing work environment; the site may contain mobility barriers with uneven ground level and obstructed pathways. Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor climate with various temperatures and noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.

Employee may be required to do the following: ability to access and work in confined spaces, reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate machines and equipment; lifting 50 lbs from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, etc.; ascending/descending inclined ships gangways; climbing ladders, standing; crawling, squatting, bending, sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; following oral and/or written directions; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards. Protective equipment will be required to be always worn.

This position is considered MEDIUM work.
