Summary

The Reporting Lead Project and Program Controls will design and develop innovative dashboards and visualizations, evaluate and maintain advanced reporting and data visualization tools, and guide the definition and development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The role includes driving the adoption of self-service BI tools such as Power BI. This role involves collaborating with business partners to identify and fulfill reporting needs by translating business requirements into actionable data, reports, and visualizations, to effectively communicate data driven insights to stakeholders, transform data into actionable reports, graphics, and dashboards to illustrate facts, trends, and insights. The role supports and manages the development and execution of a strategic roadmap for business-focused Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives. #LI-VB1

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute roadmap of business focused BI initiatives with a clear understanding of all deliverables and associated deadlines.
  • Work closely with partners across the business to identify and support reporting needs -actively listen and
  • translate business needs into data, reports, and visualization outputs.
  • Lead the design and development of innovative visualizations and dashboards to meet business needs, and work with functional owners to identify patterns, trends, and performance insights.
  • Guide functional owners to define and develop KPIs based on industry leading practices
  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain improved reporting and data visualization tools and platforms.
  • Develop, manage, and improve BI and reporting framework and processes in line with the NYPA's strategic vision.
  • Drive self-service BI, analytics and reporting as well as the effective use of Tableau, Power BI, and related
  • data & toolsets by the widest possible audience.
  • Lead the development of and deliver training/best practice guidelines to BI users.
  • Assist with coaching and mentoring junior team members and external resources.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Data Visualization tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Deep knowledge of relational database concepts and the ability to design and implement complex relational models using tools such as SQL.
  • Deep expertise creating reports, dashboards, and/or summarizing large amounts of data into actionable intelligence to drive business decisions required.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse audience across business and technical teams, and the confidence to present to senior leaders.
  • In-depth understanding of data science and the ability to support a data science team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks across multiple projects with tight deadlines and aggressive goals.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Subject matter knowledge of utilities companies is preferred
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preference in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering,
  • Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data preparation, reporting, analysis and visualization.
  • Proficiency with tools like Power BI or Tableau, Databases, MS Excel, SharePoint, and other office tools, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a data analyst, developer or lead within an analytics or reporting function.
  • Experience working with data both on prem and in the cloud
Physical Requirements

Limited travel (less than 15%) required primarily to our generating facilities.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is $118,920.00 - $163,510.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
