About the Role:
As the Camp, Youth & Teen Director, you'll be at the heart of building transformational experiences for young people, both at camp and throughout the year. You will lead the iconic Children's Island Day Camp, a unique and adventure-filled summer program that allows campers to explore the outdoors, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong friendships. In addition, you'll oversee year-round youth and teen programs, ensuring ongoing engagement through initiatives like Teen Leaders, Friday Night Fun, and adaptive/inclusive programming. Your leadership will create a welcoming and supportive environment where every child and teen can learn, grow, and thrive. Key Responsibilities: Camp Leadership & Program Development
- Direct and oversee Children's Island Day Camp, ensuring a high-quality and unforgettable summer experience.
- Design and implement engaging teen and youth programs that extend beyond summer, fostering a deeper connection to the Y year-round.
- Build and grow leadership opportunities for youth and teens, including Teen Leaders, counselor-in-training (CIT) programs, and volunteer experiences.
Year-Round Youth & Teen Engagement
- Expand Friday Night Fun, teen nights, and enrichment opportunities to keep youth engaged and connected throughout the year.
- Develop and lead adaptive and inclusion-based programming, ensuring accessibility and meaningful participation for all.
- Strengthen teen outreach, offering mentorship, leadership development, and community-building initiatives.
Staff Development & Training
- Recruit, hire, and develop a passionate and skilled team of camp staff, youth leaders, and volunteers.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and innovation, providing coaching and professional development.
Safety & Licensing Compliance
- Ensure all camp and youth programs meet licensing regulations, safety standards, and YMCA policies.
- Develop clear safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk management strategies.
Community Engagement & Program Growth
- Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners to expand impact and engagement.
- Oversee program budgets, enrollment strategies, and marketing efforts to increase participation and sustainability.
- Act as a visible leader and advocate for youth development, camp programs, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (preferred but not required).
- 1-2 years of supervisory and program experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate others toward a goal, and handle difficult conversations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
- Experience in program development, curriculum planning, and skill development coaching.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Word, with the ability to navigate software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work some nights and weekends as needed for programs and events.
- A collaborative mindset, motivated by the YMCA's mission, vision, and values.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods.
- Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
- Strong verbal and auditory skills to respond effectively in emergency situations.
