We're looking for a Senior Development Manager to join the ever-evolving Billing and Funding team to help us unleash the potential of every business. Are you ready to make your mark? Then you sound like a Worldpayer.

About the team

Billing and Funding within Worldpay has built a pricing and billing engine using big-data tech, we are amidst an exciting phase of our technology journey moving to the cloud, making our software cloud native, our infrastructure code and using CI/CD to increase our speed of delivery.

What you'll own

  • We are looking to hire a top-class Senior Development Manager to help us on our journey. You need to have a strong Engineering background with experience in designing and building highly scalable, loosely coupled, event driven, distributed systems.

  • You need to be an expert in both the Payments and Billing domains

  • You need to be an expert in writing Java applications

  • Experience of building and maintaining production applications

  • You should be capable of leading by example and have experience of implementing best practices (including Clean Coding principles) across multiple locations in software development, testing, TDD/BDD, DevOps & cloud.

  • You would be expected to guide the teams on our journey towards:

    • Fostering an engineering mindset within the team

    • Establishing industry best practices for software development

    • Adoption of DevOps best practices, tools and technologies

What you bring

  • General

    • Desire to be hands-on

    • Experience of leading and influencing change to establish engineering best practice in technical teams

    • Demonstrated accountability for a production service having contributed to that service build

    • Great communication skills (written and verbal)

    • Knowledgeable on BDD / TDD practices and have worked with these approaches in the past

  • Technical Skills (Must)

    • Experience in Functional programming using Java 8 or higher (preferably Java 17)

    • Knowledge of building scalable applications

    • Knowledgeable on Development best practices, technologies and tools having worked with these in the past

    • Knowledge of some databases and sql

  • Design/Architecture

    • Knowledgeable on Service Architecture

    • Knowledge on current technology architectures and approaches such as Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing & CQRS

  • Technical Skills (nice to have)

    • Spark

    • Kafka

    • Knowledge of EMR Serverless

    • Fargate

    • Lambda
