Department Overview

Power Generation (PGen) operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 1000 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 165 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E's successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

Position Summary

The Power Generation Risk & Compliance (R&C) team is a governance team that supports the organization's collective pursuit of an auditable and defensible risk and compliance management framework that provides a network of visibility and traceability into the business. The result enables governance and oversight of the business to verify controls are in place and course-correct as needed to ensure in PGen understands and manages its risks and operates in compliance with applicable laws, and regulations, and company objectives and goals and/or appropriately understand and manage risk across the organization. CRM's Specific to this position, primary roles are to ensure employees have a clear understanding of what requirements must be complied, ensure work processes incorporate guidance and other controls, and conduct compliance-related reviews and root cause analyses as needed to ensure controls are effectivea primary objective of R&C is to govern and manage an integrated risk management program that aligns to the requirements of PG&E's Enterprise & Operational Risk Management (EORM) system. Doing this ensures PGen's risks are identified, assessed, prioritized, and mitigated in accordance with a risk-informed decision-making framework.

This position serves as the programmatic and technical leader for Power Generation's Risk Management & Analytics team. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Power Generation Risk & Compliance, and is expected to contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust and integrated risk management program, which includes but is not limited to a central functional area risk data base comprised of a risk register, risk bowties and associated risk models and analyses, and defensible basis that aligns with all governing risk management frameworks including PSEMS and ISO 55001, and is compliant to all regulating entities including FERC, DSOD, and CPUC. To achieve these and other objectives, this position is accountable and responsible to deliver all associated processes/programs, tools, and system improvements necessary for full deployment of the risk management program. Finally, this position will maintain alignment with all stakeholder departments, internally and externally to Power Generation, to ensure proper risk management program integration and governance across Power Generation.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $132,000

Bay Area Maximum: $226,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Program, Process & Tool Delivery: This position is accountable and responsible for ensuring that clear and appropriate risk-related programs, processes, tools, data, and models are established and operationalized to ensure defensible and repeatable framework around PGen's risk management and analytics activities.
  • Organizational Function & Alignment: In alignment with EORM, this position fulfills the roles and responsibilities of a Functional Area Risk Manager in the Identification, Evaluation, Response, Monitoring and Review, and Governance phases of the EORM risk management program.
  • Technical Aptitude & Leadership: This position is responsible to ensure the risk management team is equipped with the right knowledge, skills and abilities to deliver a risk management program robust enough to satisfy the operational risk elements of the organization's asset families and associated risks, and inclusive enough to incorporate and address the less-obvious strategic risks of the business.
  • Client Partnership: Acts as a key interface/liaison to Line of Business (LOB)departments and Compliance and Ethics on compliance risk review processes, assessments and control and mitigation development and review. Maintains a high degree of compliance awareness amongrelevant departments. Communicates regularly with PG&E senior management and key stakeholders. Promotes innovation for solutions that benefit stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Risk Management (CRM) Reviews: Where needed, in partnership with the Compliance Program Manager, manages and conducts compliance and work process compliance reviews across LOB and develops self-assessment guidance, providing appropriate tools.
  • Governance and Oversight: Provides governance and oversight over applicable risk-related guidance documents, aligned with PG&E's Guidance Documentation Initiative. Develops regular reporting on risk health. Oversees system support and implementation of enterprise compliance activities.
  • Provides direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching and mentoring to the risk team members. Assigns, prioritizes, and reviews work, initiatives, and special assignments.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • 8 years of job-related experience

Desired:

  • MBA or MS, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience working to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards, primarily ISO 55000, ISO 31000, and ISO 9001

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Experience in the engineering and operations of power generation systems - notably hydro, natural gas, battery storage and/or solar - to better understand and manage PGen's risks

  • Experience in the utility or highly regulated industry

  • Experience presenting at the corporate or operational level

  • Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP)

  • Certified Risk & Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)

  • Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent

  • Completion of professional auditor training

  • Certification in Lean/Six Sigma methodology
