The Position:
The purpose of this position is to ensure City building and facilities are maintained properly and safely. This is accomplished by directing and monitoring division operations, ensuring that scheduled maintenance is completed and coordinating projects with sub-contractors. Other duties may include managing personnel issues, providing departmental support and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees.

Essential Functions

- Directs and monitors division operations by supervising personnel, following up on equipment repairs and building cleanliness, developing preventative maintenance schedules to ensure maintenance needs are accomplished, allocating resources to support special events such as meetings and grand openings, coordinating maintenance projects with other City departments and employees and participating in the development and administration of the departments budget.
- Ensures that scheduled maintenance is completed by conducting inspections of City buildings, assessing the conditions of building roofs, windows, concrete areas and building interiors and arranging for the maintenance and repair of building facilities.
- Coordinates projects with sub-contractors by advertising projects, developing, coordinating and monitoring contracts for maintenance projects or services and selecting contractors for various maintenance systems.
- Manages personnel issues by selecting and training new employees, conducting performance evaluations, scheduling and monitoring assigned work tasks, ensuring tasks are completed and monitoring the safety of employees.
- Provides support by ordering and maintaining the necessary supplies and materials and maintaining records on work activities for the City.
- Utilize software programs, including City Works Work Order and Asset Management Program, databases, spreadsheets, and Tyler Munis ERP.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics effectively while ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
-
Education and Experience A High School diploma or equivalent, plus six (6) years of progressive experience in maintenance and repair, including three (3) years of supervisory experience, is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Over five (5) years of experience in installing and maintaining various building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, and interior systems, as well as electrical and electronic controls and pumping systems, is desirable. Experience in the construction of commercial buildings is also beneficial.
Special Requirements
- Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, CJIS, and fingerprint checks, as well as comply with state and federal requirements or Criminal Justice Information Security standards.
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and respond to emergencies on an on-call basis.
City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with particular attention to codes and ordinances.
Advanced commercial HVAC, Water distribution, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and applicable code requirements.
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support staff, vendors, the public, and City employees.
