Endoscopy Technician, Gastroenterology, Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside

- 80 hours / 2 weeks

- Variable Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours

- Weeknight, Weekend and Holiday On-Call Rotation

The Endoscopy Technician assists with the delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of an RN and/or physicians in Endoscopy. The technician has the responsibility to assist with the assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. Additionally, the Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the care, handling and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s).

• In collaboration with the RN, provides direct and indirect patient care for patients utilizing and implementing the nursing process
• Maintains endoscopic instruments and accessories in working order; troubleshoots and recognizes malfunctions
• Verifies proper equipment functioning and performs safety checks
• Maintains a clean and safe patient care environment, implements and follows infection control procedures according to hospital policy and SGNA guidelines, while following unit policy for cleaning and disinfection of equipment
• Collects and delivers specimens collected during procedures, ensuring the field remains sterile
• Places devices to monitor vital signs on patients, including blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas
• Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of patients
• Maintains appropriate levels of supplies in each endoscopy room
• Completes quality monitoring records with accuracy and in a timely manner
• Participates in quality improvement activities; assists in maintaining compliance with the Joint Commission accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards
• Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education; attends mandatory training

• High School Education or equivalent

• Active on CNA registry or Active LPN license in state of practice preferred
• Approved CPR certification required within 90 days
