We are currently accepting applications for a Safety Manager in our State-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Watertown, WI, conveniently located between Madison and Milwaukee. This position will work Monday - Friday 7:00AM-4:30PM and will report to the Middleton Plant Manager.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs at all CQC locations to ensure a safe work environment and assure compliance with safety standards. Tactically execute site specific safety programs for CQC's Watertown Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Site Safety Lead for Watertown facility.
  • Develops and maintains safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines. Manage the process to review policies on a yearly basis.
  • Assists with accident investigation, ensures completion of the accident report paperwork and follow-ups, as necessary. Develops and implements accident data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
  • Conducts and coordinates on-site reviews and audits of CQC's Watertown facility, as well as on-site audits of construction and capital activity.
  • Monitors all current safety-related information on regulations and requirements via outside resources.
  • Leads Safety Steering Committee meetings. Develop an agenda for regular meetings and completes any follow-ups.
  • Mentors and professionally develop Site Safety Leads at other CQC locations. This includes skills gap assessment and training.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Safety Steering Committee and the Plant Safety Champions.
  • Assists with hands-on safety training across CQC facilities including LOTO, Confined Space, First Aid with CPR and Bloodborne Pathogen.
  • Develops safety training presentations, ensuring the training meets OSHA requirements and are consistent with our policies. This includes Safety Champion training, new employee training, contractor training, supervisor- or department-specific training, and employee training. Coordinates with third-party vendors for specialized safety training.
  • Organize and maintain the safety intranet site to ensure ease of use.
  • Performs PPE assessments and recommends required PPE.
  • Leads safety assessments on an annual basis, or as needed, which includes hazards, fall protection, machine guarding, PPE, etc.
  • Manages the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) inventory, hot work permits, confined space permits, and hands-on certifications, including periodic audits to ensure all are up to date.
  • Works with maintenance and engineering to ensure that existing equipment is maintained and conditioned for safe operation. Ensures safety specific maintenance PM's (eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, AEDs, etc.) are completed as required.
  • Works with maintenance and engineering regarding new equipment to ensure it is OSHA compliant and ergonomically correct.
  • Investigate and evaluate new safety equipment or work practices to make the workplace safer.
  • Advises the engineering group on safety-related design issues with equipment, processes, and facilities.
  • Oversees and manages the contractor safety program. Ensure contractors follow our standards and ensures appropriate paperwork is completed.
  • Travel to our other work locations as needed.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work and work overtime as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (in Engineering, Applied or Basic Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field) with a minimum of 3 year of experience leading and enforcing safety in a manufacturing environment, or if no degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience leading and enforcing safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and policy implementation
  • Broad knowledge and experience with manufacturing and engineering
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Must have acceptable driving record and valid driver's license
