Assistant General Counsel

Restaurant Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel with expertise in labor and employment law to join our Legal, Risk & Compliance team. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated attorney to work on complex legal matters while contributing to the continued growth and success of the company.

Position Overview:

As the Assistant General Counsel, you will play a key role in providing expert legal counsel on general legal matters with a focus on labor and employment. You will advise senior leadership, HR teams, and other stakeholders on employment-related issues and ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of labor and employment laws at the federal, state, and local levels.

Location:

Preferrably located close to our corporate headquarters in Mendota Heights, MN. Would also be open to fully remote as well.

Travel:

Required to travel up to 40% within the continental US.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on experience and performance. In addition this role is eligible for an annual company performace based incentive. Please note that the base salary will vary based on geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate's experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company in labor negotiations, including collective bargaining and dispute resolution.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on a broad range of labor and employment issues, including employee relations, compensation, benefits, workplace policies, terminations, and employee discipline.
  • Oversee the handling of employee-related litigation, including wrongful termination, harassment, wage and hour claims, and discrimination lawsuits.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, including the FLSA, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, and other state-specific regulations.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, non-compete clauses, severance agreements, and employee handbooks.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel on labor and employment-related litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Assist with internal investigations involving employee complaints or misconduct.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in labor and employment law and advise leadership on potential impacts on business operations.
  • Develop and provide training on labor and employment law topics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 8-10 years of legal experience with a focus on labor and employment law.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • REQUIRED: Experience with union negotiations, collective bargaining, and labor disputes.
  • Proven experience in handling complex employment litigation and advising on HR policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong critical thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Valid admission to a state bar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in-house at a corporation or with a large-scale organization.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management systems.
