Fox News is looking for an experienced Freelance Lighting Technician to join our DC Field Department. As a Freelance Lighting Technician, you will be responsible for developing and building production sets, adjust lights, and construct the equipment that supports the cameras. You will work directly under the lighting director or lead photographer on multicamera shoots and remote shows. The candidate must be willing and able to work weekends when needed.

To ensure success as a Freelance Lighting Tech, you should have advanced knowledge of electrical work. You should also have creative design skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours. A top-notch grip is always on hand to build, fix, rig, or adjust equipment to assist in creating the perfect shot.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage lighting, including associated resources such as lighting instruments, AC cables, and electrical equipment under the direction of the lead photographer or the lighting director.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 5+ years professional experience in the field

  • Strong lighting skills and experience with long format shoots

  • Flexibility and speed to work in a high stress breaking news environment

  • A clean driving record is required, CDL a plus

  • Flexible work schedule to adapt to a 24-hour news organization, including overtime and weekends

  • Willing and available to travel at last-minute notice

  • This is a very demanding job that requires long hours and the lifting of heavy equipment
